
Your baby only needs a stable and protective bed, firm mattress and a well-fitting sheet on the mattress.
Canadian Paediatric Society:
- “Infants should never sleep on pillows, air mattresses, waterbeds, cushions, soft materials or loose bedding. Even when you are travelling, your baby must have a safe place to sleep”
- Do not use eiderdowns (a comforter filled with a type of down), comforters, bulky blankets, bumper pads or pillow-like items in your baby’s bed.
American Academy of Paediatrics:
- Avoid use of soft bedding, including crib bumpers, blankets, pillows and soft toys. The crib should be bare.
